Join Three Little Birds in celebrating the Day of Hope (August 19th) and your baby with the purchase of our personalized Day of Hope Prayer Flags!
Founded in 2008 by Carley Marie Dudley, in memory of her son, this international event focuses on shattering the stigmas around pregnancy and infant loss. Below is a statement from her website:
"Child death, pregnancy loss and baby loss is a really taboo subject, society means that it is a hush-hush subject. It shouldn’t be that way! All these pregnancies, babies, and children that have died meant something to a lot of people, they are children, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and cousins to so many and they affect so many lives.
People had thought about these children, made plans in their heads, thought about their future, leaving school, getting married, having children off their owns, all those dreams are shattered in one moment.
When that moment happens, the society we live in then makes it really difficult to talk about them. All your dreams are gone and all your plans and then you feel bad for talking about them.
August 19th Day of Hope is about making this change, it is about speaking about these children and making their short lives matter! The aim of the day is to get people to talk about pregnancy, baby, infant and child loss, it is to break down the barriers in society and to make it easier for people to talk about their children and losses for the rest of the year.
No one should be afraid to speak about their losses."
