Three Little Birds hosted its 4th annual Wave of Light Ceremony on October 15, 2021 in honor of pregnancy and infant loss awareness day. Thanks to our Major Event Sponsor Jefferson Health, dozens of bereaved families gathered to comfort, share and #shatterthestigma of pregnancy and infant loss.
Prior to our ceremony at 7 PM, Three Little Birds made three presentations to Jefferson Health!
Through our legacy project, CuddleCots for Cash, a local family raised more than $10,000 to purchase two cuddle cots, one for Jefferson Health-NJ and the other for the Jefferson Health Center City location in Philadelphia, PA. Their ultimate goal is to place a CuddleCot in each state at a hospital in need to spread their son Cash’s love around! At the event, Cash’s parents shared how much value the CuddleCot on their experience and it allowed them to spend days parenting him before saying goodbye.
Secondly, Three Little Birds presented our groundbreaking Perinatal Bereavement Training Program to Jefferson Health for 12 perinatal professionals between both locations in the Spring of 2022. This program combines traditional grief support training with tips for effective and sensitive communication with families, specific knowledge on cultural, religious and spiritual competency, local resources that can support physical, emotional and spiritual health and healing, in addition to hands on memory making and photography training. This training will also provide support to Jefferson families after discharge, as well as specialized support for medical professionals including support groups and team building events!
Our final presentation of the night was our Healthcare Hero Award, presented to a local mid-wife that supported a Jefferson Health family last year who made a tremendously positive impact on their experience.
