March focus theme: Support

Did you know March is Pregnancy After Loss Awareness month?

For families walking the terrifying and exciting path towards continuing their family building journey, they are reminded that they are not alone and have support available to them weekly at our office.

  • Virtual content – Our virtual program is facilitated through our closed Facebook Support Group and is a space for parents to share their journey, resources that have helped them and keep abreast to our services and specialty offerings.

  • Weekly support available – Our office is open weekly on Tuesdays to support families, as they need, on their journey. The first and third Tuesdays focus on pregnancy after loss and the second and fourth Tuesdays are dedicated to parenting after loss and postpartum support. In the past year, we have supported eight families prepare and welcome the birth of their rainbow baby!

  • Sneak Peek events – Families can register for our Sneak Peek event, hosted by our Community Partners Wondertime, LLC and Image is Everything Studios, both in Pitman, NJ. Families are free to bring family members and friends for a 10-minute 3D/4D ultrasound in a non-clinical setting and receive a “rainbow baby” themed family portrait. We encourage families to bring mementos from the sibling they lost to incorporate into the photos! Below are examples of our rainbow portraits our families have received!

Average weekly group attendance: 4-6 Value of services: $250+/family based on needs Cost to families: FREE! Sneak Peek event discount: $40 packages – tax deductible. (Valued at $250)

A “rainbow baby” is a term used for a baby that is born following a miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death or infant loss. In the real world, a beautiful and bright rainbow follows a storm and gives hope of things getting better. The rainbow is more appreciated having just experienced the storm in comparison.

We understand not everyone likes or utilizes this term however there are many who find comfort in this metaphor. We encourage families to find what works best for them and their family. Below are examples of our rainbow baby/pregnancy after loss portraiture.

Why residency restrictions? - We are 100% volunteer run and donation/grant based. Over the past two years, we have tripled the amount of families we are serving and even with our office in Blackwood, NJ, can only host a small capacity of people per event. For our off-site events, we often have to pay per head and because of this, we are truly limited to maintaining our attendance for families in our region who are actively participating in groups, legacy projects and volunteers. Additionally, guidelines set by grantors require us to strictly adhere to our mission and that is serving families in the service region (Southern NJ/Philadelphia and the PA metro area).
