Come and find out what's happening with
Three Little Birds planned to launch our Infertility Support Services when our paths crossed with Lynn Polin, a local mom with an incredible journey with infertility. As we got to know Lynn, we could feel the passion she has for supporting other families like her, who face uncertain futures as they try to grow their family naturally.
Lynn's story is unique, but shared by so many. Over the past five years, she has chronicled her journey in a blog, as well as volunteering with the national non-profit, RESOLVE, whose mission is to ensure all people challenged in their family building journey reach resolution. She has also launched a Peer-led Infertility Support Group, hosted on the first Wednesday of every month at Virtua Voorhees Hospital, from 7-8:15PM.
Lynn and her husband Drew struggled to conceive when they sought medical treatments. Lynn endured nine IVF cycles, four retrievals with over 50 eggs retrieved, 13 that made it to embryo, six PGS tested, four fresh transfers, six frozen transfers, one pregnancy loss that almost took her life, and one sassy, imperfectly perfect miracle baby girl, named Kayla. She is now entering her 10th IVF cycle in hopes of bringing home a sibling for their daughter.
Understanding firsthand the physical, emotional, financial and spiritual effects of infertility, Lynn has made it her mission to make a difference for the next family facing similar treatments who feel unsupported. "It's hard. It's emotional. It's lonely. It fills you with shame and sadness and heartbreak. My mission now is to promote advocacy, awareness and education in our communities to help support us more. We all have a journey; a story.", says Lynn.
Next weekend, on Sunday, April 15, Lynn and more than 300 walkers/runners will participate in the Walk of Hope to take place at Washington Lake Park in Washington Township, NJ. “Locally, there has actually not been any walks in our area — we are the first walk ever in our area. The closest one to us was up in North Jersey, and they since have moved it over to New York,” explained Lynn.
"After my ninth round of IVF, I kind of called it quits for a bit, and then decided over the summer that I really just wanted to give back and support people that are going through it — because, unfortunately, there’s just not lot a lot of support out there for people traveling through the infertility journey,” she continued.
In addition to her support group and Walk of Hope advocacy, she and her husband are creating a documentary of their 10th attempt at IVF. She has found a director and people who are helping them tell their story so that they can validate, support and provide hope to families like theirs.
Lynn has joined forces with Three Little Birds to support families who seek support for infertility or who have experienced a loss after a conceiving via treatment. We are so grateful to have Lynn's passion, enthusiasm and support as we grow this initiative!
